Little Boy Blue, Please Cover Your Nose! My last assignment for fall semester Illustration I was to do pretty much anything I wanted. I really enjoy anything that's sequential so I thought I would illustrate a poem I liked into a children's-book-style series. The poem was 'Little Boy Blue, Please Cover Your Nose!' by Darren Sardelli. After getting permission from Sardelli to illustrate his poem, I did kind of a colour study first. These colours to me where pretty childish, so I though that they went well with a whacky nursery rhyme about a kid who kept sneezing on people. I've been heavily digital recently just because it's faster and easier, but I really wanted to give these illustrations a traditional feel. There is really something special in hand-to-paper work, so I decided to fall back on one of my favourite traditional mediums- chalk pastel. I used 6x6 pieces of different coloured paper and used chalk pastel to draw the base illustrations....
